UNPAZ Students Begin ERASMUS+ Exchange Semester at Marburg University, Germany
Marburg, Germany – April 8, 2025
A group of four outstanding students from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at Universidade da Paz (UNPAZ) in Dili, Timor-Leste, have successfully arrived in Germany to participate in a one-semester student exchange under the prestigious ERASMUS+ program.
The group includes three students from the Department of International Relations and one from the Peace Studies program. They are currently settling in well in Marburg and have joined fellow international students for an intensive orientation program at Philipps-Universität Marburg (Marburg University), one of Germany’s oldest and most respected universities.
The ERASMUS+ program, supported by the European Union, offers a unique opportunity for students to experience academic life in a new cultural context, develop their academic and personal skills, and foster international understanding and cooperation. The UNPAZ students will spend a full semester attending classes, engaging in intercultural learning, and sharing insights from Timor-Leste with a global student community.
"This is a proud moment for our faculty and for UNPAZ as a whole," said a faculty representative Mr. João Francisco Maia, Lic.CSH.,MDS. "These students are not only ambassadors of our university but also of Timor-Leste. We are confident that they will gain valuable experiences that will contribute greatly to their academic journey and their role in building a peaceful and just society."
As the semester unfolds, the students will participate in courses relevant to their studies in international relations and peacebuilding, and they will also take part in academic workshops and cultural events hosted by Marburg University.
This student exchange is part of the broader cooperation between UNPAZ and Marburg University, which includes academic collaboration, faculty training, and joint initiatives promoting peace and development.
UNPAZ extends its gratitude to the ERASMUS+ program, Marburg University, and all the partners who made this opportunity possible. We look forward to hearing more from the students as they continue their academic journey in Europe.
